What are the health benefits of pistachios?
Pistachios aren't just a food trend: they're also a real ally for your health. Naturally rich in healthy fats (particularly monounsaturated fats), they help maintain a healthy cholesterol level.
It's also an excellent source of plant-based protein. Indeed, with its 20g of protein per 100g, it's an ideal snack for athletes or active individuals.
Pistachios also contain :
- Magnesium and potassium, which contribute to good cardiovascular health.
- Vitamin B6, essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system.
- An interesting quantity of antioxidants, particularly carotenoids, beneficial for vision and skin.
By including pistachios in your acai bowl, they reinforce the hunger-suppressing effect of acai fibers. Pistachios have it all!
How many pistachios should I eat in a day?
As with all nuts, pistachios should be eaten in moderation. The recommended portion is around 25 to 30 g a day, or roughly a small handful. This is enough to enjoy the benefits without excess calories.
In an acai bowl, you can add a few whole ones for crunchiness, but you can also use them in paste form (as in our recipe), provided you check the ingredients carefully if you buy them ready-made.
A good homemade pistachio paste, like the one below, contains just three ingredients: pistachios, white chocolate and a little neutral-tasting oil.
Note that the flavorless oil in our pistachio paste liquefies the spread. The more you use, the more liquid it will be. Conversely, the less you use, the more solid the pistachio paste will be. You can adapt this recipe to your own preferences.

Tips for making your own acai bowl
To make mixing the açai easier. We recommend two options:
-
The first is to take the dose of açai you want out of the freezer. This allows the product to thaw slightly. Once the product is manageable, you can break the pod (still in the plastic) with your hands.
-
The second option is to run the pods under a stream of hot water to speed up defrosting. You'll also be able to break the pods more easily.
Be careful not to over-thaw the products, otherwise you'll end up with a very runny acai bowl texture.
Note also that this acai bowl can be made vegan if you use plant-based white chocolate for the pistachio paste.
